Youth Summer Theatre Press Release

Youth Theatre rehearsal 2018

The following was released to local media on May 29, 2018.

The ACT 2 Theatre Company will present a summer youth theatre production this summer from June 21 through June 24 in downtown Clarksburg.

Co-directors Cricket Hall and John Hall have assembled a cast of seventeen talented young people from ages 11 through 17. They will present two one-act plays—The Emperor’s New Clothes by Steven Schutzman and Highly Theatrical Terms by C.P. Stancich.

Cast members include Aidan Gross and Hannah Woods as Ludwig and Otto, the con men who trick the fashion-conscious Emperor, played by Aiden Enocksen, into letting them create his royal garments for the wedding of his daughters Princesses Marigold (Charlotte Blevins) and Petunia (Persephone Hall). Morris and Boris, the bumbling detectives in hot pursuit of the con men are played by Morgan Sprouse and Maizze Christie. The cast is rounded out by the Emperor’s ministers (Loki Hall and Matthew Shuttleworth), the Servant (Bre Carter), the Keeper of the Calendar (Emily Graham), the Empress (Mackenzie Byrnes), the Empress of Japan (Delaney Byrnes), and the Child who unwittingly reveals the truth (Cayleigh Graham).

The same cast members will perform the fast-paced scenelets and monologues that make up Highly Theatrical Terms. This piece is an exercise in timing and pace that is sure to keep the audience laughing.

Youth who are serving in off-stage roles include Isaiah Evans (lighting), Rileigh Byrnes (run crew), Dominic Smith (set design), Damian Bowser (sound), and Rhapsody Hall (make-up).

Both plays are produced by special arrangement with Brooklyn Publishers, LLC.

Only four performances are scheduled—June 21, 22, 23 at 7:30 pm and June 24 at 2:00 pm. Reservations are encouraged and are available via email (preferred) at act2theatre@gmail.com. For those without email, a message service is available at 304-918-0010. Please include name, number of seats, performance date, and phone number to contact for confirmation. Seats are priced at $8.00 per adult and $5.00 per child.

All performances are at the McCrory Marketplace Great Hall, 318 West Main Street, Clarksburg. Parking is available on the street or around the block at Jackson Square on Pike Street.
