We’re excited! We have gathered some of the most talented and experienced actresses in the area to be in our fall show, The Oldest Profession by Tony winning playwright Paula Vogel
Director Cricket Hall had some tough decisions to make because we had a lot of wonderful women audition for the show. She couldn’t cast all of them, but here are the results of those auditions:
- GERALDINE VILAR plays Mae, the madam. self-made woman, leader who looks after her girls.
- PHYL CHARNES is Ursula, the determined one who believes in rules and does not suffer fools, She’s usually right.
- BEVERLY OLIVER and BEVERLY DONITZEN will share the role of Lillian, for whom age has been gentle. She’s sure of herself and has great style.
- CYNDY SIMONS-STRAIGHT is Edna, next in line after Mae. She’s the good time girl, brassy and adventurous.
- LINDA O’CONNOR portrays Vera, the youngest, who is also loyal, sensitive, loves food, and has a strong work ethic.
The play is set in New York City’s Upper West Side on a summer day just before the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980. “Five aging practitioners are faced with a diminishing clientele, increased competition for their niche market, and aching joints. With compassion and humor they struggle to find new tricks as they fight to stay in the Life.”
