Dan Hawkins loves the opportunity to entertain an audience. You’ll see what we mean with you come see him take on the role of Babu Rashaad in What The Bellhop Saw. Babu is the terrorist out to assassinate the author who wrote a book that insulted the Obadanza of La Banza.
When I was young I was eager to perform in school and church plays. I always remember my performance in fifth grade. There was a school talent show and I sang the Disney song “Hakuna Matata.” I enjoyed singing and imitated and imitating the different character voices in the song.
My next opportunity happened when I was in high school. I was cast in the show Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. After that I knew theatre would be a part of my life. When I attended college I continued to perform on stage.
After college, I did a few technical internships in Ohio, Kentucky, and North Carolina. Even though I was hired for technical work, I still found opportunities found opportunities to perform on stage. After the internships ended I continued to perform with different community theatres in the area. I am grateful for all the past and future performing opportunities to entertain people.
Dan is certainly entertaining as Babu. Come see for yourself. What The Bellhop Saw opens February 26 and continues through March 8 at the Friedlander’s Center in Clarksburg WV. (Hope of the Starving Artist Studio). See our Show Info page for all the details.
