Auditions are coming up on April 20 for our production of Neil LaBute’s Reasons To Be Pretty. it’s a play about society’s obsession with physical appearance and it’s effect on the lives of the four people who are the characters in this play. All the characters are ordinary people, people that you know — or know of — in everyday life.

This post focuses on the women in the story.

Steph is Greg’s girlfriend who spends the whole first scene breaking up with him after hearing that he said her appearance is “regular.” She is friends with Carly, but not with Carly’s husband Kent. Carly

STEPH

Steph is Greg’s girlfriend who spends the whole first scene breaking up with him after hearing that he said her appearance is “regular.” She has a fiery temper and never holds back. She is friends with Carly, but not with Carly’s husband Kent.

Carly

Carly is married to Kent. She works as a security guard at the same place that Greg and Kent work. Carly is the “pretty” one in the story, but feels that beauty can make life difficult for a woman.

WHEN?

Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. with call-backs on the evening of Tuesday, April 23 at the Progressive Women’s Association, 305 Washington Ave., Clarksburg, WV.

Show dates: June 20-23, 27-29, 2013. (Sunday performances are matinees).
